The Memphis Grizzlies are now the #1 team in the western conference.
孟菲斯灰熊现在高居西部第一。
Most people, including myself, had the Grizzlies outside the top 8 in the west coming into the season and probably slated as a conference bottom dweller. But they are playing some great ball with steady, and perpetually underrated Mike Conley running the show with great contributions from Marc Gasol et al. Rookie JJJ is showing some high promise as well.
Edit: Obviously by #1 team I mean best W-L record thus far.

The Grizzlies have never been bad when they're healthy. But the big caveat is if Conley and Gasol can ever be healthy enough to play a full season together again. If they cumulatively miss 30 games due to injury and go 10-20 during that span this season can they make the playoffs?

Memphis is such a great spot for him. I was worried about his game at MSU because he lacked any real tenacity. If he went to a young team and they expected him to be the focal point of the offence I think he could have struggled, but this Grizzlies team has really allowed him to make a nice transition.

I definitely did not. Conley is a great 2nd piece to a championship contender.
Chandler Parsons 25 mil/Yr contract is dead weight.
That's 3 solid role players or one all star they could have brought in with that money.
I don't see them making it past the 2nd round but they are a great sleeper team to upset any higher seed if they make it in.

He's been playing out of his mind the last 6 games, and there's a little less than two months before All-Star teams are decided. If he keeps on playing like this and we're a top seed in the West in January, I could see him making it.
Gasol should make the All-Star team though. The only front court players in the West over him right now are Durant, LeBron, Davis, and George. Arguments can be made for Tobias Harris, KAT, Gobert, and Jokic but I think Gasol has the advantage right now based on team record and frustrating inconsistency from KAT and Jokic. A lot can change up ahead though.
