I hope I'm wrong, but he hasn't really looked good enough for Europe in CSL. Yes, he has an incredible record, but I still have doubts about this move

Maybe he's not good enough for La Liga, but there are other leagues in Europe. I was hoping that he would choose a lower-table club in Portugal or Belgium.

hes 27, i guess he probably thought that if he wants to try Europe he wants to try a big league if anything and see if he can have a good showing there and possibly play for a EL or even CL side later on, even if he fails there Chinese Clubs will still take him back immediately so he's not risking much here.
武磊27岁了，我猜他想去欧洲就想去大联赛试试，看看自己在那里的表现如何、是否还有机会打上欧联甚至欧冠。退一步讲，就算他留洋不利他也能立即返回中超，从这个角度讲他也没冒太大风险。
Sidenote, i'd love to know how much Espanyol had to pay here, i mean the dude is the best chinese Player and the Chinese League is rich, he would've cost ALOT if Shanghai SIPG sold him to someone else in the league.

I guess you are right. But he used to have great potential, shame that was wasted in the Chinese league over the years. Hope he can still reach his full potential.(have to say it is unlikely tho given his age)

Espanyol actually has a Chinese owner so this makes sense. Currently it's unknown if he'll fit the team well but he's 27 already so he has to give it a try. If it doesn't work out he can just return to China.

Wu was injured at the first match of Asian Cup and also played thru it for 3 more matches. Chinese media says he will be treated in Germany for 3 months. I doubt if he would make much difference this season
