Honestly, nice job by Russ being calm during that exchange. Also on a side note, I pretty sure Russ has made this point before and it’s a good one. Need the league to address this. This also the second time this type of stuff has happened to him in Denver.

Honestly I blame the NBA. they seat fans 6 inches away from the court to profit from the extra seats. Kids, drunks, and assholes will always exist. In other sports, fans can't contact the players without moving their ass from their seat.

I think the most obvious fix is not having anyone sit that close to the Court. Players should be able to try to save balls without the fear of crushing a fan or being mauled by a folding chair. But, with the price they charge for those seats, there's no way they're getting rid of the front row.

Damn. Can't imagine this happening in today's league. Poor camera guy though, he was just doing his job. It's on the league to ensure the safety of the players and its crew. It's actually surprising how they don't collide more often with how close they are to the basket.

League better start setting some boundaries. Yeah, kid just touched him and you can say it isn't something serious, but next time someone will pull players shorts, or just for real smack someone on the knee. You just don't wait for it to happen, but start banning such fans who even touch players from entering arenas.

I don't think Russell could have handled it better, IMO. Russ could have pulled a Justin Thomas and told security to get them out, he could have screamed at the kid and his father, hell he could have done a million different worse things.

If a child/adult is unable to keep their hands to themselves, then they don't belong courtside.

Handled it perfectly. Didn't lash out at the kid or his dad, just calmly explained that they shouldn't be doing that and that they need to restrain themselves. Even looked like he gave the kid a pat on the back or something.

Westbrook is correct. I remember a couple of months ago my daughter and I sat right behind the Rockets bench during their game in Memphis. I told her beforehand that she can't reach out and try to touch any of them no matter how bad she wanted to. You could tell she nervously wanted to try it but she held off. Lol
